CKP is the adopted standard acronym for CranK shaft Position sensor used in the auto business (US). That's why I use that name.

CMP is the standard acronym for CaM shaft Position sensor.

But as with everything else, people come up with their own names and acronyms.

The crank sensor has also been called TDC sensor (or Hall effect sensor) just some 10-15 years ago but since this sensor is no longer showing TDC (Top Dead Center) that name was dropped.

I wouldn't say "it couldn't be", that would be silly to rule out certain things just on a hunch.

You either have to get down and dirty with test equipment and measure your way or find a shop that could do it for you.

Check for power back at the fuel pump when cranking over the engine. If you have power there but no noise from the fuel pump, it is most likely the fuel pump.

Search the board for how to check.
