Often Discussed, but no solution, cold start problem

HI Guys,
now that it is getting colder and wet in Boston I want to get back to a problem my 96 saab 2.3 has. I know it has been discussed a few times.
When it is cloder and/or wet my car starts fine, catches immediately and revs nicely. However, when I go into D it starts to sputter and sometimes the engine dies.
I restart and again it starts fine and strangely it keeps the revs perfectly when going into D the second time.
Upon first start I also tried to let it idle for a minute but same thing happens, first time going into D it sputters.
I replaced the spark plugs (gapped correctly) and distributor, cables are also new. IAC is also clean and lubricated.
To me it seems more like a electronic problem because after the second start it is working fine. Maybe I should buy a new IAC valve? ALso I lubricated it and the inner valve is moving freely the motor may be not working right after a cold night.
What are your guys thoughts on that?
Thank you
Markus
