New battery fixes radio problem - amazing!

2001 Viggen radio would not turn on automatically when starting the engine. I replaced the original battery yesterday and now the radio turns on at every start - amazing!
Background: Like a number of other owners reporting this problem, my radio rarely would return to the "on" position after restarting the engine. The problem began soon after I bought the CPO Viggen in November 04. It would only happen about one out of ten engine restarts. The dealer replaced the radio with little effect. As time went on the problem worsened to the point that it was rare if the radio returned to the "on" position in one out of 500 restarts. In fact, sometimes when I turned the radio off before shuting the engine down, the radio would turn on after engine ignition. I gave up on this problem, because no one else on this board found a remedy. The battery gave out last weekend and after replacing it the radio has turned on every time (15 out of 15 starts). I don't know why. Perhaps there wasn't enough juice in the battery for the "brain" to know how to the switch the radio. Regardless of the reason, I'm happy now. Hope it stays this way. Maybe it will work for others.
