Geez, you save a $1,000 bucks, and you still take a swipe at GM and Saab quality. I assume you've owned pre GM and post GM Saabs and can judge? I have and I don't find the pre GM Saabs to be paragons of reliability. That's never been the top reason for buying a Saab. And newer Saabs can be quite good. GM inspired 9-5s are known for their reliability (and safety) so if that's your priority. The latest reliability press from Road & Track's Owner Survey rates the new 9-3SS first year of production as average, a left handed compliment for first year issue.
I really don't know of any 10 year old luxury convertibles that are cheaper to fix than a Saab. I feel your pain, my 96 900SE V6 vert just went through top issues, but that's convertible territory for any brand sometimes. Saab makes great convertibles, but not perfect and the electric top can be picked on, so get a C900 or 9-3 with a hydraulic top.
While we're at lets bash the V6's too. I know many with good V6 tales and mines fine so far.
But they fixed all that is the point. Where did you decide the quality was poor and they never learn? There's been two top revisions since the OG900 electric top and the 9-3SS vert is quite remarkable. Have you checked out an Aero vert?
