FYI - I posted 40mph, it's actually 35 at 2K RPM.
While I concur with your theory, I can't help but believe that there is some single control/event that is causing this to happen at the exact same RPM under the exact same conditions. I can see that fuel might dump a little into the outbound under decel and that it might combust - but I can't see how the ignition would always happen at the exact same RPM. It really should vary depending on current temps, etc. The only variation is that it happens or not.
