O2 sensor and copper grease Posted by Goping [Email] (#838) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Goping) on Mon, 25 Sep 2006 07:55:59 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Long story short
- Downpipe broken and Check engine light
- my mechanic replace downpipe with my new GS 3 inch downpipe, I was there when doing the job. No problem with installation with O2 sensors removal and installation.
- Problem fixed but still got CE light and fuel economy is as usual
- Disconnect battery to get rid of the alert. OK for a couple of miles but CE light back on and now fuel economy is increasing.
I know it is probably an O2 sensor, i will get the code to see which one is faulty.
I notice the assistant of my mechanic used copper grease on the thread of the 2 O2 sensors before installing them. Could this grease make a bad grounding?
If it could solve the problem i would try to clean them before throwing again $$$ for a new sensor that does'nt need to be replace finally.
Thanks
