After a lot of trial and error the cause of no start became obvious, a frozen alternator pulley, I need help figuring out a solution, do I need to take it out or is it possible to loosen it where it is...
My car was sitting idle for a year in a covered storage unit in northeast, when I tried to start it recently, 1st few tries(with a fairly recent battery as a replacement) the engine would hardly crank , took the starter out and had it oiled and cleaned, put the starter back and tried to rotate the crankshaft pulley to see if the engine was binding, with car in neutral was able to turn the pulley counterclockwise for a few turns but it does not budge when I try to rotate clockwise and the belt seems to make an overstretching noise but hardly any movement in a clockwise motion, removed the serpentine belt off, and tried rotating alternator, air compressor, power steering pump by hand,... every pulley rotated except the alternator, NOW could the culprit be bad bearing, dried grease reservoir? brushes rusted? again was able to turn the pulley counterclockwise for a few turns but it does not budge when I try to rotate clockwise.
any and all help is welcome and appreciated.
Thanks in advance
