There's no cheap easy way out of this unfortunately. Saabs are hard enough to sell even in good running shape and non running cars of any kind are a tough sell. Then after you take a bath on the car you still have to buy something to drive, which is going to cost a lot more than $1500. The real question is if you put $1500 into this car could you get another year or two of driving out of it? Driving costs money no matter how you do it-you can make payments or you can make repairs(repairs are almost always cheaper). Forget how old it is or how much it's worth-if you get another year and a half out of it, it's less than $100 a month-the best deal in town compared to a car payment. Personally you I don't think you have to spend $1500 anyway. You don't need an alarm to drive it, you might get away with re-torquing the head, and you don't necessarily don't know the DIC needs replacing. Just do what you have to do to get it running.
