Follow-up cold start problem

Hi Guys,
I want to share with you the apparent solution to my cold start problems. I had posted these a while ago here on the board. In short, on cold mornings the car (96' 2.3 convertile automatic, 72.000 miles) started fine but when I switched into R or D the rev droped and the engine died. The car started fine afterwards and switching into D also did not reduce the rev. I also noticed that during idling after first start attempt switching on the A/C would also make the engine stall. So I assumed there was something wrong with the idle control.
I had cleaned the IAC valve, replaced plugs and distributor and renewed all the vac hoses. Did not help.
So I decided to invest in a new IAC valve and this did the trick. It is pretty clod these days in Boston but the car starts fine and the rev stays rock solid when switching into D during first start attempt.
My explanation is that the old IAC valve may have been a bit sticky (despite cleaning and lubricating it) during cold weather and thus was to slow to adjust the idle to the load when switching into D.
I tought to share this with you guys. Thanks for the input on the first post.
Markus
