9-3 questions, need advice from a saab guru

Hi all,
I'm new to posting messages on this board. Here goes. The past few months I've been looking into buying a turbo saab, some 9000s, some 900s, I never thought I'd be able to afford a 9-3. I found a '99 9-3 coupe, 5 speed with 94,000 miles on it for $5450.00 does that seem like a reasonable price for this car?
I was doing "research" on 9-3 engines and found a lot of trouble with them getting a "sludge" buildup in the oil... Does this happen even if you're a nice car owner and treat the car well (give it oil changes, fluid flushes, etc)? I really like the newer Saabs I've driven, but this scares me into looking at older models just to be on the safe side. So how bad of an issue is this?
