If you buy through a place like http://www.crutchfield.com they usually have detailed instructions that the will include with their products. If you are buying the SAAB XM package, its pretty straight forward as its sized to fit and so on. The only think you’ll need to know is where to mount the XM antenna, which is different for every car, I’ve seen allot of SAABS with it right next to the shark fin ONSTAR antenna, or some put it right on the dash. As long as it always has direct view of the sky you should be ok. Also the Saab package will probably have wire harnesses included.
The real trick to car stereo installation is concealment, where to tuck wires and cables while keeping everything grounded properly. Places like http://www.sounddomain.com are good too cause they have "kids" who work there and know allot about installing. They also have a listing of car owners with websites so you can get some cool ideas of what to do, if you’re going beyond the stock radio world.
Hope this helped.
