The cabin fan suddenly stopped working on my '99 9-3 SE with ACC. The ACC screen says the fan is on, but it's not spinning. All the fuses look okay and there is power coming into the fan connector (wiring harness with hot and neutral wires that connects to white plug in the fan housing). The fan works when I connect the ground.

I tried changing the fan speed controller harness in the dashboard, but it didn't make any difference. Being an ACC car, it doesn't have the resistor mounted in the fan housing, but there is still the white plastic connector with two wires coming in from the wiring harness and two wires to the fan. This connector has a small capacitor or resistor between the two contacts and a connection on the bottom that appears to be unused. Should there be a ground connected here? Is there anything else I can try to make it work?
