Suspension settling ?

I had installed new shocks and springs this summer on my 1994 NG900.
Now, 6 months later I started hearing squeaks in the morning. I first attributed it to winter and cold. But ... upon closer look, I noticed this: the flared nuts on top of the struts seem to have risen, and are now floating about 10 mm over the rubber surface (which I suspect they should be pressing on). Unfortunatly, I cannot remember what their proper position is supposed to be, but I suspect this elevatef floating is wrong. (My 9-3 is of no help as a reference, as the top of the strut there is entirely different). Could somebody look at theirs, and confirm that mine are sitting too high in comparison?
Now I wonder how this could have happened? I had torqued everything to spec (except for the huge nut on the strut) Have the new springs or the shocks/dampers settled? Should I just torque them down? Or should I disassemble the whole strut and re-tighten everything from scratch?
The springs, by the way, were SAAB, and the shocks were Bilstein Touring. Both where the exact same size/dimensions as the originals. The suspension works and feels fine, but I do not like hearing these sounds...
Thanks,
-- Nick
