The left inner driver is of a free floating style and not suspended in a roller bearing but only a bronze bushing inside the differential.

You can find this design more on domestic cars and some Asian.

One a few cars, the free play might be enough to wear out the seal prematurely and it starts to leak.
Unfortunatly, it is no easy way so far to replace that bushing except a full tear down of transmission.

Saab have a tool to pull out that bushing just by removing the drive shaft and housing (with transmission still in car) but they have not allowed the tool into US market due to the difficult nature of the repair.

It is however some attempts to get a tool made and I'm waiting for the results from another shop if they have any success in doing that.
