A few days ago I spent 2 hours working my way out of parking lot in 20+" of snow in VT. Afraid that my clutch burned out as there was a nasty smell inside cabin after all was said and done. Smell remained for a day or so, but diminished over last couple of days. Now suddenly have serious trouble shifting into gear (car drove & shifted fine last few days). Still feel good pressure in clutch pedal. Don't think it is cable b/c I've lost and changed that before. Plenty of fluid in master cylinder. Car is in driveway now. Can sometimes shift into gear when off and shifts through all gears fine; other times need to work it to get in reverse to remove key.
Any backseat diagnosis would be appreciated. Could it be a linkage issue as car carrage was on snow many times? Also would take advice on whether I should try to drive 10 miles to my very good local Saab guru or 35 miles to the not-so-local Saab tranny guru (or tow to either?).
Thanks, Dave in VT.
