Clean/test plug wires or replace them?

Any thoughts on cleaning and testing spark plug wires vs replacing them?
I am a cheapskate DIYer trying to exorcise a PO341 error code by doing plugs/cap/rotor. I should do wires, I suppose, but I recall being told a few years ago, by our Saab dealer, that they no longer routinely replaced plug wires but tested them with an ohmeter and replaced only if defective. I did this each tune up using the specs from Bentley, and the wires were always fine.
I was planning on doing the same, along with Dean's wash and bake trick on my MG900's wires, but can't find any test specs, and notice that it seems to be common practice to just replace them on this list. But the wires appear to be almost identical between the two cars, so I figure the resistance specs in the C900 book should be close enough.
