Ive had an MBC for about 5-6 years now, I keep it turned pretty low since I dont want to have to adjust it up and down when its cold. It still helps the spoolup time of the turbo and gives a little more boost pressure. I dont think there is any danger of blowing the engine but if you have it turned too high you'll know it, just keep it turned down enough that you dont hit the cutoff.
