Really? I replaced the one in my NG900 (94 se) and it was a pain, worst thing was those interconnecting metal pipes leading to and from the intake manifold and the fitting the o rings and water pump into place. Took me a leisurely 4-5 hours, but changed the air filter, belt, pulley, coolant, new hoses at the same time while I was at it. My back was sore the next day.
Now I have a 00 9-3 and if it is much worse than my 94 NG900, and I am a a few years older now...I think it will go to my indie when the o ring starts to leak. Why/how is it more difficult on the 9-3's? There is a bit more plumbing and a heat shield on the exhaust manifold, other than that what differences?
I am still on my original pump/o rings at 102k (00 9-3 SE)whereas I was replacing my second pump/o rings on my 1994 model at this mileage. Maybe the newer car has a better setup...or I shouldn't have said this lest it will start leaking tomorrow.
