FYI-Check for rocks in between the brake pad and rotor for the grinding noise. It is quite a common problem during the winter months and I just took in my wifes car a couple of weeks ago for this problem. The mechanic quickly fixed the problem by removing the wheel and brake calipers and sweeping out the rock. The rock scared the rotors but they are still in fine working conditon. She picked up the rock in the Colorado winter because they down crushed granite instead of salt.
