I realize this is a belated post, but I couldn't find anything to answer the question of what to do with a 5 door rack with a two door hatchback. After looking at the two pins (two on each side for the rear rack which is slightly longer than the front as well as being indicated by a symbol of a car with an arrow pointing on whether it is to be used for the rear or front) I noticed that the pins were secured by bolt and a nut against the rubber gasket material that separated the pass rear window panel from the roof. Using a 10mm wrench, I undid the nuts so that the bolts were unscrewed from the pin holes for both sides of the car. Using a pry bar gingerly with a towel on it I pryed back gently the rear window panel from the roof panel and using a needle nose removed the bolt and 10mm nut exposing the exact same holes that are in the front.
I have a 98 Saab SE Turbo. I posted this as the Thule made Saab logo racks work great (no need for a lock as the door keeps them from being hijacked) and probably available used. Anyone searching this fine forum may think that this info would be useful.
