If you are going to disconnect your battery for any reason and don't want to lose assorted settings in your car--including the radio--go to Radio Shack and get a simple device that plugs into the cigarette lighter and has its own 9-volt battery attached. It will provide enough power to electronic stuff to save the settings while the car's battery is disconnected. Probably an auto parts store will have one of these, too.
