If you have the fault code/codes it would help us help you.

It is not uncommon at all that the EVAP purge valve is creating an on/off check engine light syndrome so if the fault code at the time also indicated an large or small EVAP leak, that would be my first guess after checking all the different hoses that might break.

If the fault code this time is indicating something else, well, then they were right the first time and your car just decided to create another problem.

Keep in mind that many of these different check engine light problems are there just because some people want to breathe fresh air and the government has jumped on that idea and created a whole bunch of laws regulating how much emission your car is allowed to send out.

We are fighting an uphill battle trying to find and fix all these problems that the car makers (with their billiions of dollars) couldn't develop and build strong enough in the first place to last the life of the car.

It is a couple of ground connections (wire splice junctions) in the wire harness that is known to go bad on some NG900 so if the fault codes indicate something like that, they might first try to find those crimp connections and recrimp them before condemming the ECU.

Bad front and rear oxygen sensors can also create an on/off check engine light scenario.
