ACC stepping motor question...

Thanks to Geoff for his good write-up on diagnosing the stepping motor that controls the hot and cold air for the ACC. I've been getting hot air no matter what setting I put the ACC. I took things apart and noticed that the motor was working, but it would get stuck going up when I turned down the temperature.
I played around with the linkages, sprayed some lithium grease on the joints of the linkages, put the motor back on, and now it seems to be working. One question I do have though is why after the motor rotates in either direction to close or open the vent does it still turn about a 1/2 revolution a second. It almost sounds like a ticking watch. I've always heard this ticking inside the car and never knew what it was, until now. It seems like this would be wearing out the gear or possibly cause it to slip, which is what I think happened. So I'm not sure if the motor is supposed to be doing this or not. I'm not sure how long before it disengages from the gear again. Any ideas?
