Car lurches and hesitates, then check engine light Posted by Todd [Email] (#958) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Todd) on Thu, 3 May 2007 12:56:18 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi everyone. My 1996 900 SET (5 spd 120k) has been having intermittent hesitation/bucking followed by a series of associated check engine light codes. The most recent one happened as follows:
The car starts fine and within the first few blocks of driving, the engine bucks/lurches/hesitates (choose your favorite verb) and then the CEL flashes a few times and then stays on. Codes 132, 138 and 300 immediately show up. I clear the codes and then 1171 pops up. I clear that one and then 135 appears. Car drives fine otherwise. Gas mileage seems lower than usual.
When this first happened a month ago, I seemed to coincide with a new tank of gas, so I suspected water in the gas or something similar. But now it's happening every day, though intermittently. The most frequent time that I experience this is shortly after starting.
This morning the CEL sequence was 132, 1416, 300. I was on my way to fill up with fuel, so the low fuel level might have factored in here.
Any ideas? Some of the posts make me suspect a purge valve.
Thanks!
Todd
