ABS/Brake warning light on, no speedo, stalling, etc. Posted by Todd [Email] (#958) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Todd) on Wed, 30 May 2007 16:59:38 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a 1999 9-3 SE 5-speed with 140k on it that has the ABS/Brake warning light on and no working spedometer or odometer. Every now and again (usually after the car has sat overnight) it will come alive and work properly for a mile or two before failing again. I've researched the board here and asked some people who are familar with the problem and probably figure it is either the left rear ABS sensor or the ABS module itself under the hood or possibly the ground. Couple of questions:
1. Where is the ground for the ABS module under the hood? Is it the wires directly under the ABS module/pump itself or somewhere else?
2. Is there an easy, DIY method (besides swapping out old part with new) to eliminate either the module or sensor as the culprit (this assuming the ground is good).
3. If it turns out to be the module under the hood, who is the best source to purchase a used unit or recondition the existing?
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!
