After you reset the SID was there any stop-and-go mixed in with the highway driving? In my experience doesn't take much to degrade the average. Suggest getting up to test speed (say 62mph), reset SID while in motion, and measure for five miles or so. If a flat surface you should certainly get 30 mpg+. Reverse direction and take average if needed to compensate for any change in elevation or wind. Turn off a/c to remove that variable.
My '02 9-3 would easily show 32 mpg+ under above conditions.
