Good suggestion. I had read that the pre-1996 cars were OBD1 compliant,
and therefore I'd need to use one of the older scanners to scan. Upon looking under the steering column I saw a 16 pin connector. Went to Autozone and checked out / borrowed an OBD2 scanner (Actron OBD2 AutoScanner).
Immediately it read: P0110 IAT (Intake Air Temp) Sensor circuit malfunction. I pressed "clear", and presto it was gone.
I'm still wondering why the code was thrown given I had not turned anything on while performing the mods. Thanks to all!
