I replaced my oil pressure sender because the gasket on the sensor was leaking, causing a slow oil drip onto my exhaust. I got sick of the burning rubber smell and decided to replace it.

The oil pressure sending unit is on the backside if the engine. I have a 99 9-3, so your mileage may vary on a 900. Good news: the part is cheap, under $10 if I remember correctly. Bad news: you may have to buy a socket that is the right size to remove the sender, and the replacement sensor that you get may or may not have the same head size (even if its threaded the same).

I had to jack the front end and move the oil filler pipe out of the way to get the sending unit. The oil filler pipe is accessible from the top. If you remove the black plastic cover over the throttle body, there is a bracket with two hex head screws that holds the upper half of the filler pipe in place. if you remove the bracket, you can lift up the filler tube a few inches, which is enough to get it out of the way. There is a second bracket on the back side of the engine (which is accessed from below) that secures the bottom half of the filler tube to the engine. You can probably get at the sending unit without it, but its easier if you remove it. The sending unit has a single push-on electrical connector that you simply pull off to remove. The sending unit simply unscrews with the appropriate socket(the plug on top of the sending unit may interfere with the depth of your socket). Screw the new one in and put it all back together.
