The classic symptom of a bad master cylinder is when the pedal sinks to the floor slowly and smoothly. The fluid leaks around the piston & back into the reservoir, that's why it doesn't leak OUT.
Bleeding may help temporarily, but the only real fix is a new master cylinder. Installing new seals in your MC may be OK, but often the real cause is corrosion in the bore of the MC.
