Considering buying low mileage '96 900S Convertible Posted by Andrew [Email] (#1013) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Andrew) on Tue, 26 Jun 2007 17:17:15 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi all,
My next door neighbor wants to sell her '95 900S convertible because she's older (70s) and has knee problems. The car is a stick.
The good news is that it's a well maintained (I'm guessing- I know she says she takes it to the dealer for service), in great shape (needs a little cleaning up), and has only 28,000 miles.
I've crawled around the car and I've driven it... nothing seems out of the ordinary. It has had a dent repaired at one point, but the body is otherwise solid. No rust (it's a Michigan car, but it was only driven in winters '03+ when her husband died and it became her only car) and the top looks great (it's original).
Anything in particular to look for on these? Any good way to tell how solid the transmission and/or clutch is?
I'm not familiar with Saab manual transmissions. I own a 9-5 with an auto and I've had a 9-3 with an auto.
Finally, any thoughts on what to offer her? It'll need some scrubbing, but she kept it decently clean. Needs a wax, some leather conditioner, some carpet cleaning. Has new Michelin Pilot Exalto tires on the 15" wheels.
Thanks!
