I too was able to get the pan out by removing the front 4 (2 on each side) subframe bolts and then loosening the rear ones. They are fairly long...so I backed them out until they were almost out then tightened them a few turns to make sure a few threads were holding in. For good measure I also supported the engine from underneath with a floor jack. You only need to get the subframe down by a couple of inches on the right front. Not sure it this is the proper thing to do, but a gentle pull on the subframe once lose will give you the proper clearance needed to remove the pan. Make sure that you have the proper sealant to put the pan back together. I believe that the proper stuff is Loctite 518, it is an anaerobic sealant....and not readily available at a lot of stores.
