loss of power, jumpy acceleration

I recently went on a road trip from my home above 7000ft in Colorado to SoCal lbc, over 1000 miles on two tanks of gas in my '95 900s w/ much to spare! About an hour from my destination I lost throttle momentarily, off and on. The problem continued while in SoCal occasionally losing power while either accelerating through gears or accelerating on the highway in 5th (manual transmission) and only when the engine was warmed up. The engine doesnt shut off and resumes accelerating once the throttle returns. I initially thought the problem was a fuel pump but no noise and no real problem starting the car except after letting the car sit for about a week takes a couple of cranks (battery charge?). Turning the engine off and back on did seem to help with throttle. I began to think I had a faulty sensor or air meter that was acting up in the hotter denser air. I've checked all air hosing for cracks or leaks. Now Im beginning to think theres a problem w/ ignition switch. Someone also suggested banging on the fuel filter or replacing it though I dont think that its a fuel issue. When the engine does act out I only occasionally get a check engine light. I havent gotten the fault code. The problem happens very sporadically and only after the engine is warm and the environment is hot. I'm hoping someone might have a better clue than I do. I want to avoid unnecessarily taking apart the center console or messing with gas so anything else I could look into before those two would be much appreciated.
