I'd do the new engine, but that's mainly because I tend to get attached to stuff. Are the '95 S versions turbos or non turbos? If it's not and your mechanic is good and willing, you could consider finding a wrecked turbo car and swapping everything into yours.
In the mean time, you could maybe think about trying some heavier weight oil and see if that lets you eek out another few thousand miles. Mobil One makes a 15w50 and Royal Purple has a 20w50. I'm down here where it's hot and the Royal Purple does make the engine run a lot more quietly.
