That is, well..... interesting. Did it occur to you that the USED tires you put on your car may have had an existing wear pattern that caused adverse hadling? Or possibly they were out of round? Also, the RE070 is NOT "as close to an R compund you can get on a street tire". The RE050a and RE050a Pole Positions are.

I just replaced the Pirelli P6000's on my '02 Viggen with brand new Bridgestone Potenza RE050a Pole Positions. Absolutely amazing. I couldn't be any happier. Zero vibration, low road noise, phenomenal handling, and a very nice ride for as stiff of a sidewall as they have. I experience much less tramlining with the new tires also. I don't even have the rack brace on my car either.

I will admit that a lot of the lower end tires are just fine for many vehicles. (ie. Civic, Sentra, etc.) Some of them are even fine on the Viggen. In most cases, however, the performace is just not at the level of some of the higher-end tires. I have found very few tires that impressed me as much as the (various) Potenzas over the years. This is even after going through MANY sets of different tires in 3-4,000 miles on Corvettes I autocrossed. I have yet to see a Potenza be out of round or hard to balance as I continually saw with many of the lower end tires. While I haven't tried EVERY tire out there, the Potenzas are the best of what I've had experience with.
