1993 would be a 'classic' 900; that's a different board. But I owned one for 13 years.
When my pump failed, it went bad on one pole of the motor (out of maybe 12 poles). If it just happened to coast to a stop at that bad pole, it wouldn't start. I verified this by connecting the bad pump to a battery. Most times it would immediately start to run. Maybe once every dozen tries, it wouldn't run. It would start if I shook it, or if I reached in with a screwdriver & moved the rotor.
