intermittent radio power

I have a 2002 9-3 with the standard radio/cd that, with the exception of a dying SID has been pretty reliable. Lately, however, I've noticed that even if I leave the radio on when I turn the car off, when I turn the car back on the radio will not maintain its powered on state. I will instead need to hit the power button again, and then it works fine. If it did it every time, I would assume it was a fuse problem somewhere, but sometimes it is fine. Yesterday, for the first (and hopefully only) time, it did something worse, however: it got stuck in that off state. When I turned on the car, the radio was off, and hitting the power button did nothing. The SID was powered, but the radio would not turn on, and even the CD eject button would not work. I finally managed to get it working by hitting the OnStar button, which seemed to "wake" it up and get it back to normal.
The fact that it is an intermittent problem has me more concerned than if it was something I knew was broken and could then repair. Anyone have any thoughts on why it would do this? Perhaps a fuse that isn't making good contact? Or is my radio dying a slow and painful death?
Thanks.
Seth
