Don't forget that many of the Bimmers have non-heated PLASTIC rear windows in their tops, so a hard-top with a scrapeable "hard" window's more critcal for them in winter. You just have to be careful to keep the snow-weight off the canvas and be extra careful brushing-off the snow and ice. I used to throw a piece of plastic drop-cloth material over the top of my C900 convert. and tucked it inside the driver's and passenger doors to protect it from slushy-snow and ice freezing on the top.

Withe NG900, I'm still pondering how to secure the plastic, as they don't have the convenient separate rear-window panel's open side-seam to clip the plastic drop-cloth to the top with several plastic clamp-clips. Maybe a few picnic-tablecloth tie-downs and a few elastic-bungies to the door-handles and the trunk-lid? There used to be a few outfits that made "sun-shields" that clipped to the four wheelwells to hold a partial-carcover over the windows and top from the hot Southern sun.

(I prefer the $3.00 piece of plastic. It's small, light and disposable if too-damaged. It also discourages the neighborhood cats from sleeping on the nice, warm, soft canvas cat-hammock...I mean convert. top.)
