I replaced my 95 900se linkage w/ an updated version. Given your's is a 97 I think you already have it(updated in 96?)... also you mentioned plastic bridge... so leads me to feel its the latest version. If that plastic piece is breaking your engine mounts aren't supporting your engine/tranny or keeping it in place and to much pressure is applied to the linkage there fore it is breaking. Do you feel like your shifter is sloppy to any degree? or shakes, bounces around under brisk accelerating? Inspect your engine mounts. Easy fix. Turbo engine's seem to abuse the crap out of the oem versions so considering a poly type from GenuineSaab (thank god for them) would be smart. They are much much less likely to fail during the life of your vehicle. Not sure how rear mount would affect this though....
