ACC whining at low revs/idle

Hello,
My 1998 900SET whines when running the blower motor (in heat or cooling mode) at low engine rpm and idle. When accelerating the whine seems to go away. The a/c and heat work fine. When I shut off the ACC and the blower motor stops, something else seems to be still spinning (and whining) for a few seconds more before also shutting down.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
George M.
