I've been eyeballing viggens for some time now and I've come across one that I like. Its a 2001 3dr type w/ 64,000 miles. Kid wants 12.5k after talking down from $13,225
I test drove it and noticed the boost only goes half way into the yellow but never touches or goes into the red like my boys saab does... 1st 2nd limited to a little yellow... 3rd-5th go into the upper yellow?
Brakes squeal in the rear and front brakes make a whirring noise (cuz of the slots?)... is this normal?
Engine was wicked dirty and grimey. nothing nice about it... should this be something to worry about. No leaky gaskets. coolant full and green but it says low coolant because of a faulty sensor? can't say the same about the super shiny black exterior :)and mint leather bucket seats. Or the full pixel SID and ACC.
Also is it normal for these cars to pull to the side under heavy acceleration? My friend says Saabs are famous for torque steer and especially 2.3 litre viggens?? true?
He has owned the car since 30,000 miles and never performed any kind of maintenance because he hasn't had any problems. Is this ok or should I be skeptical. He claims to have changed the oil every 2,500-3k miles but thats all.
so basically a 2001 Viggen w/64k and no mainenance performed ever! wow.
I'm scared about things like the MAF, AMM & throttle body failures... that could lead to piston cracking. I want the car really bad but need some guidance, persuasion, assistence in feeling right about it.
Would I be safe if I purchase the car and immediately replaced the MAF, AMM and spark plugs?
Help!
