On my second 9000, a 97 cse, ex 88 and 98 convertable owner. The 88 I loved, very solid, very saablike. The 98 and up while more comfortable, was flexi, porky, slow and suffered from all the same woes of the NG series plus the horrific top problems. Ask anyone whos had bot the classic and ng convertable which he'd rather repair...
My 02 93se sedan is a very nice car, albeit fussy and expensive at times. Not trying to scare you away, but with the newer convertables, the potential for very expensive problems is very real and most people are dissapointed with their performance. Overal I agree that they are just way overpriced, and you'll never recoup your investment if you try to sell it. I made more money selling my 88 with 180k miles than the 98 money pit with 80k and I was sooo happy to see it go...
The 9000 was probably the last quality car saab made other than the non-v6 9-5s of today...
