Today I got my first sunroof drip in my 2002 9-3 five-door. I'll put aside the fact that I think sunroof drip is disgraceful for a car with only 63k miles on it, but regardless, it was actually just a total of three drops that fell on my head after the car started moving from a position of being parked with the nose of the car pointed a bit uphill during a very heavy rain. The car has not previously leaked ever in my 6 years of ownership. Since my car has previously only been on flat ground during all prior heavy rains AND the remainder of my drive tonight was dry after those initial three drops, I believe that I may have a clogged rear sunroof drain. Here are my questions:
1) Looking down the sunroof drain channel with a flashlight I cannot see how far back into my roof it goes. Therefore, I cannot see where the rear drain is (front ones are accounted for). That said, can anyone tell me if there is a way to unclog that rear drain that doesn't require dropping the headliner, etc?
2) Does this problem sound to anyone like it could be anything else? There was not enough condensation on the glass to have fallen on my head like that, so I am quite sure condensation is not the answer.
3) Finally, has anyone experienced the same thing and concluded that even with a clear drain, such drips can happen when parked on a hill? If so I may have to set aside how much I love this car and determine if I want to deal with such a quirk.
