I bought my 96 900S with 75k miles. Now 160k. I've been using Modil 7500mi synthetic blend. It is cheaper than Mobil 1 and a bit more than dyno oil. It is hard to find - Pep Boys has it. Before that it was called Hi mileage or some such. Anyway it contains seal conditioners and extra detergent. I do leave it in for 7500 miles - sometimes more as life is busy. At change time it is still slippery although dirty. Use a good filter like Mobil 1 or Saab. It cured my main seal leak - good sized spot on driveway. I didn't want to switch over to full synthetic and this is best compromise for my pocket book.
