I was lucky that the fuel pump failed in the garage - the battery did too, but that's another story. I wasted 4 hours trying to drop the tank and finally cut an access hole in the sheet metal under the seat with a high-speed die grinder. The hard part is cutting the sheet metal and not cutting the wires, 2 plastic gas lines or plastic gas tank. I bought a pump at NAPA for $120. Once the hole is cut, you need to remove the 2 plastic tubes from the pump. If you lube them with WD-40, they are a little easier to wiggle out. Be careful not to break the restraining tabs - but if you do, Swedecar has a metal brace that can replace them and hold the 90 degree tubes securely. Then you need to unscrew the retaining ring. I used a pair of water pump pliers, a pair of vise grips and a pry bar to unscrew it. Once off, the pump assembly needs to be rotated about 1/4 turn counter clockwise on removed from the tank. This is definitely not a job that can be done on the highway. But if you can do this at home, you can save some money... Good luck, Ron
