For the last month my 99 9-3 (131000) has had an intriguing problem as the engine heats up.
To summarize my symptoms:
-Car starts well
-engine runs at a consistent idle as it warms... until (this happens at a seemingly specific engine temp)
-engine rpms fall from the normal 1000 to around 800, and then drops further to 400/500 at which point the lovely cpu stops the car from starving itself and the rpms jump to 1800-2000 range. this process repeats itself several times until the car is at normal operating temp.
-the above occurs it the car isn't moving during warm up. (for the record, im in chilly chicago). it i try to drive the car from a cold start, it will drive normally until it reaches the "specific temperature" at which point if the car is in motion, the engine power will cut out as the engine is starving itself.
-HOWEVER, (the interesting part), once the car is fully warmed up, not a SINGLE one of these symptoms occurs.
My CEL is on and I read the following FIVE codes. (Assuming there is only one culprit as the CEL illuminated and 5 codes are being spit out.
The codes are:
P0300 - Multiple Random misfires
P1172 - Fuel pump issue?
P0138 - o2 sensor 2 in bank 1, input voltage too high
P0132 - o2 sensor 1 in bank 1, input voltage too high
P0125 - too excessive time for coolant to reach closed-loop circulation (new thermostat), im guessing 0-10 degree F will do that, especially in short trips.
So, I hope for somebody to recognize a solution or cause for this intermittent problem. Any comments, advice, help are extremely appriciated.
Thanks,
Matt in Chicago (99 9-3, 131,000)
