I've had the same issue on my NG900 for quite some time. NO-one knows what it is either. but if you search on the board here you'll see it is a common problem. I believe after researching it, it there is a sensor on the steering wheel itself. My indy says the airbag might still work or it might not, so if the light is on, your taking a chance the bag won't go off in a crash. Wish i had a simple answer for you , but mine just went off...Don't mind the light, just the dinging sound that can repeatedly go off... you can try disconnecting the battery over night and see if it resets the light, but it's definitely is a common issue with these cars...
