Have the same problem with my 2001 9-3SE HO. Just started this issue at 100K miles. The noise really only happens if the temp is below 40F and after the car has sat for more than 6 hrs. The noise last about a minute at most or until car is warmed up enough. Mechanic said he could clean the oil pan out if I wanted but before I spend any money he recommended I change the oil under the possibility that the oil didn't get drained completely on my last oil change and that their could be minor sludge buildup. He said that if the noise is only lasting a minute it is most likely minor buildup in there and that one oil change could resolve this issue. If the car wasn't a turbo I could just run motor flush and clean it out completely, but I will have to settle with the oil change. I have always used mobil full-senthetic oil with a Mann filter as well as high test(93) mobil gas. however the last oil change I used a different full-senthetic that was buy 2 get 2 kinda deal, aka the cheap stuff and I believe it is what started my problem. Today I did an oil change, and I am back to the mobil oil and now I am using the M1-102 Mobil-High Capacity oil filter that my mechanic recommended and the problem seems to be gone for now...I will repost if the problem comes up again but I would recommend trying what I did.
