slow start question Posted by Dan [Email] (#2459) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Dan) on Wed, 26 Mar 2008 19:50:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hello all.
So about a week ago I decided that I had better get to changing out the fuel filter on a '95 900se I have that had been sitting a year or so before I bought it. It drove fine before the change though the filter itself was really ugly with rust a what-not. I changed it out, made sure the thing wasn't leaking, etc. and the all seemed fine. Of course it took a minute to start after the change but nothing out of the ordinary. Now, though, the car will tend to take a number of cranks to start up. This morning when my wife took the car for a short trip I noticed some fairly sooty exhaust as she pulled away from the driveway. The car was always a quick starting number and I'm confused at how my changing the fuel pump would have anything to do with how the car would start.
I guess my question is does anyone have an easy ideas, is there a normal culprit for slow starts other than battery issues? (Battery is maybe a month old and is just fine...)
Thanks everyone.
dan
