The most likely problem other than a bent rim that you seem to have eliminated is an inner drive shaft. EPC calls it a countershaft. If you have a 9-3, non-Viggen, the part # is 50 57 674. Also the tripod bearing, 89 50 628 might be bad, Once the axle is removed from the right side, you can inspect. For some reason (exhaust temp?) the boot often leaks and you end up with dry needle bearings and grooves worn into the cups of the countershaft cups. It's messy but you can feel the grooves. At this point, it's not too hard to replace (with a lift). There's a snap ring around the countershaft, to the inside of the bearing bracket. I remove the snap ring and tap the countershaft out with a punch. Takes about an hour and a half total. Dan at Road Tested Saabs in Indianapolis.
