Overtighten Oil Drain Plug?

Could overtightening the oil drain plug crack the oil pan? I took my 97 900S to the dealer to have the oil changed. A couple of days later I noticed oil on my garage floor. The car has never leaked oil before. I looked under the car and could see drops of oil coming from the area of the drain plug. I took the car back to the dealer and they tell me that the oil pan is cracked. I have not hit anything that could crack the oilpan and the timing seems a bit suspicious. Thanks.
